Southeast Los Angeles native Serg Hernandez' sensibilities grew out od living through the Civil Rights Movement, the Watts Roit, the Chicano Student Movement and the Vietnam Anti-war Movement. Serg did cartoons and illustrated the historical Con Safos magazine, as well as Cal State Northridge's El Popo newspaper. Working with Ramses Noriega, Ed Carillo, and Saul Solache, Serg helped paint UCLA's first Chicano mural, at Cambell Hall. His work reflects Serg's "love for the Chicano experience and my commitment to social and political change.
