Rudy Torres
Contact Info: rudeart
The work of this Chicano artist can be coined as "barrio funk," accomplishing the psychedelic and the absurd. His work defies reality with dream-like, urban landscapes demanding the viewer to use all powers of concentration. The color schemes resonate from ancient Mexican festival tones and hues, while the complexity of each narrative work mirrors the intricacy of a labyrinth. Rudy addresses urban reality using poignantly provocative images mixed with a genuine sense of humor. This portfolio of new major works includes 'Road Rage' a sardonic piece on the attitude that effects each of our daily lives; 'She's Too Wild' a highly sexualized painting focusing on the wrong woman and love-lost; and "The El Sereno Club,' with its portraits of colorful contemporary urban 'homeboys'. Rudy Torres is a true innovator of the Chicano spirit.
