ABOUT LINDA VALLEJO

Linda Vallejo received her Master of Fine Arts from Cal State University, Long Beach after study in Europe. Museum exhibitions include The Bronx Museum, Museum of Modem Art New York, Mexico City Modem Art Museum. and the National Museum of American Art. Renowned poet and journalist, Suzanne Lummis writes. "She is a noted artist with paintings in which the landscape of dreams and icons of a personal mythos are set forth in luminous tones and a graceful intuitive line." Betty Ann Brown. celebrated author and curator, states "Vallejo is a gifted and mature artist whose eclectic approach reflects her- personal heritage and individual history: embracing her mestizo nature. She has studied indigenous spiritual traditions, and incorporated the fruits of her learning into her resonant images. Exquisitely rendered and brilliantly conceived, Vallejos paintings affect viewers deeply, as do all art works of great quality."

ARTIST STATEMENT

THE DEATH OF URBAN HUMANITY:
A LIFE WITHOUT ART

A view of the urban center without poetry, art, music or dance. A place where the soul is not given importance and is not understood.

The cities' inhabitants void of expression, feeling, and inner knowing.

Humanity torn apart in an empty and stifling horizon while artists sacrifice to give our lives meaning and purpose.
